Fresh Courts, Fresh Energy: Glenwood Hills Resurfacing Update

If you’ve strolled past the recreation area lately, you’ve likely noticed heavy equipment where our well-worn courts used to be. After two years of neighborhood input and city planning, resurfacing is finally under way—hooray!
How we got here
Back in 2023 we surveyed residents on Next Door and at our Monthly meetings, met with the Parks Department to find a fair way to serve both tennis and pickleball enthusiasts while keeping noise and traffic in check. The result:
Two dedicated tennis courts
Two shared-use pickleball courts (no permanent nets—players bring their own)
This compromise preserves the classic game many of us grew up with while giving pickleball players a place to rally. Even without stripes, the surfaces have already seen plenty of friendly pickleball games, proving the concept works.
More than just Tennis...
From my kitchen window I’ve watched these courts be used for tennis, pickleball, double as a bike-practice loop, an impromptu dog park, a skateboard runway—and yes, a neighborhood social hub. The soundtrack has always been happy rather than a noise nuisance. Once this fresh surface cures, we expect the same upbeat vibe!
Haven’t tried pickleball yet?
We know a few neighbors missed the original notice and are still curious—or even skeptical—about the shared-use plan. If that’s you, bring a paddle and give it a whirl. You might discover a new hobby and a few new friends in the process. If you don't have a paddle or balls, I have a huge bag and would be happy to lend out.
What’s next
Thank you to everyone who weighed in, your feedback shaped a solution that keeps Glenwood Hills active, inclusive, and—most importantly—fun!!!
See you on the (brand-new) courts!
Your Neighbor, (akc Tennis-star wanna be and a Pickleball enthusiast)
